Are you interested in learning more about the world of fermented foods in a fun and interactive environment? Join us for our monthly meet-up and create your very own fermented foods in a group of like minded fermentation enthusiasts!

Each session will be a “group fermenting party” where we will together create a variety of fermented foods. Your registration includes ingredients for the ferments although you will be asked to bring you own fermenting vessel (mason jars will do just fine!) cutting board and knife. You will leave each session with a jar of your own ferments to get you through the month until our next meet-up.

Each session is $33/person and will be hosted at Soul Foods Conscious Grocer on the following dates:

Authentic Alignment – strengthening the mind-body connection

This series of classes is designed to strengthen the mind-body connection by exploring the principles of psychosomatic therapy in a small group setting. Through awareness based practices and postural alignments you will learn ways to re-pattern your nervous system, reduce stress, alleviate pain and come to embody your Authentic Alignment.

This series is for individuals looking to develop a better understanding of their body’s intelligence, who are interested in learning the language of the body-mind and want to develop ways to become empowered through a simple and effective self-healing process.

In each session we will explore three key areas of the body-mind and learn how these connection points show up in the way we think, feel and act in the world. We will end each session with a guided meditation and deep relaxation. After each session you will receive individualized homework and a weekly follow up email complete with the postural reminders and the weeks meditation to continue the work on your own in between sessions.

Emotional Anatomy w/Mallory

Mallory Guenther, RYT500 and Psychosomatic Therapist bridges her passion for Trauma Informed Yoga and Psychosomatic Therapy. Emotional Anatomy is a workshop designed to illuminate the connection between our mind (psycho) and body (soma). We will learn how this connection shows up in the way we think, feel and act in the world.

Join Mallory in this 2hour session as we explore the principles of Psychosomatic Therapy while learning ways to incorporate these principles into your daily life. Participants can expect to gain a deeper understanding of their own unique emotional anatomy and learn tools to develop and express this awareness in their daily life.

 *Please come in comfortable clothing as we will be both sitting and moving throughout our time together. The session will end with a guided relaxation and crystal singing bowl experience.

During this three hour experience we will dive into the principles of psychosomatic therapy by learning to understand our emotional anatomy through guided reflection, journalling and meditation. As we journey inward you will also be guided to create your own manifestation mala to wear as a reminder of the intentions you discover and create throughout the evening. We will enjoy nourishments by Soul Foods and Three Treasures and end the evening with a deeply restorative Yoga Nidra session led by Anne-Edith. You will leave feeling uplifted, empowered and rejuvenated with deeper clarity and practical action steps to move toward the life you want to live in 2019!

Lane Britnell is a medicinal plant activist and forerunner of medicinal cannabis in Saskatoon. With the upcoming legalization there are many questions and conversations arising in our community. Join Lane to discuss this mysterious plant and it’s profound effects on many peoples physical health and psychological disabilities. In this 4 week series you will learn how to grow and care for your very own medicinal plants.

September 19th: Living Soil
What we will discuss:
-How to mix your own no-till organic soil for growing medicinal plants 
-Learn how no till works, and how to craft your own probiotic super soil using local inputs

September 26: Choosing the right strain to grow indoors and Legal FAQs
What we will discuss:
-where you can and can’t obtain cannabis plants
-obtaining a permit to grow at home
-what is and isn’t legal to grow
-how to choose a strain best for your growing situation
-pros and cons of different methods for starting seeds

October 2nd: How to clone organically
What we will discuss:
-What is a mother plant?
-How to take clones (cuttings) so that you never need to buy seeds again
-How to clone using organic inputs instead of rooting hormone

October 10th:
Probiotic Gardening and Integrated Pest Management
What we will discuss:
-What is probiotic gardening? 
-How to care for your plant up until harvest
-How to make Compost Tea and Sprouted Seed Tea 
-What is IPM? How can we manage pests without chemicals? 
-How to make an organic, food grade pest spray for your plants
-Using beneficial insects to protect your garden

Join Lane Britnell; Saskatoon’s own medicinal plant activist for an evening of learnig and growing together. This workshop will teach you how to create your own no-till super soil so that you can grow your own medicinal plants at home, with just tap water! No bottled nutrients required!  

You will learn:

-       How to mix your own no-till super soil

-       How no-till soil works

-       How to grow medicinal herbs with just tap water, including medicinal cannabis

-       The differences between living soil and conventionally grown plants

-       The importance of local inputs in your soil

-       The basics of how to care for your plants

Each attendant will go home with a 15 gallon fabric pot filled with super soil that is completely ready to be planted in, a personal supply of organic straw mulch, cover crop seeds & 6 weeks worth of aloe powder.

Join Mallory in level one of this three part series to revolutionize your health. In this 2 hour workshop we will explore the truth behind three of the most misunderstood ingredients in your kitchen, and how the proper use of these foods can lead you towards a body with less pain, increased energy and greater overall health. This workshop will kick off a 21-day sugar challenge where you will have an opportunity to see and feel first hand the effects of switching up your salts, sugars and fats. Each participant will leave with their own jar of salt, sugar and fat alternatives to integrate into their life and practical tools to assist them during the challenge.

Level one is suitable for anyone looking to understand the difference between good and bad salts, sugars and fats (yes there are good ones that you can enjoy abundantly) and how to integrate these changes into your daily life. This workshop is suitable for anyone who has previous experience with lowering their intake of sugar for a period of time or for those interested in learning more about how their digestive health can effect their overall health, wellbeing and vitality. You do not need to attend level one to attend level two.

Salt Sugar Fat - 21 day Sugar Challenge LEVEL ONE Carrot River, SK

Join Mallory in level one of this three part series to revolutionize your health. In this 2 hour workshop we will explore the truth behind three of the most misunderstood ingredients in your kitchen, and how the proper use of these foods can lead you towards a body with less pain, increased energy and greater overall health. This workshop will kick off a 21-day sugar challenge where you will have an opportunity to see and feel first hand the effects of switching up your salts, sugars and fats. Each participant will leave with their own jar of salt, sugar and fat alternatives to integrate into their life and practical tools to assist them during the challenge.

Level one is suitable for anyone looking to understand the difference between good and bad salts, sugars and fats (yes there are good ones that you can enjoy abundantly) and how to integrate these changes into your daily life. Level one is for you if this is the first time you have eliminated such ingredients from your life, or if the low-sugar, high-fat lifestyle is fairly new to your awareness. 

Participants will leave inspired to begin their journey in a 21-day sugar challenge where they will be guided to reduce sugar in their diet. The 21-day sugar challenge will include daily e-mails, recipes, and inspiration as well as general health topics for further study and personal inquiry. Included in the challenge is a Facebook support group where you will have the opportunity to journey alongside other participants and share stories and experiences on the path to lower sugar intake, more radiant energy, and vibrant health.
